This is a lovely post. I have really enjoyed all the posts I have read in this collective, what a good idea. This thought holds so true as a mother, but you have to allow change to come into your environment so both you and your kids can go and experience. Good for you for branching out of what seems to be your normal comfort zone.
Beautiful pics as well! :)Jordan|Berlin by the Bayhttp://berlinbythebay.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4143002494369975295.post-34384573921464381712014-03-15T00:57:10.896-06:002014-03-15T00:57:10.896-06:00Aw, such beautiful photos! And kuddos to you for letting go of your plans for the well being of your family. Makes me want to explore this about myself.

And yes, at first I was surprised that Roman is going to public school. But as you talked more about definitions and labels......it is funny how and why others' decisions surprise us.....and made me think.....why should that surprise me? We are not our labels.....they are a part of us......but decisions are decisions and we make them for all kinds of reasons.

I looovvvve these pics, esp the silhouette + window one and the one of you and Asher in front of that fall-looking field. I often remind myself of something a professor said in college: "We won't be the same people we are in 10 weeks from now, never mind 10 minutes." So many decisions as a mommy. I also was torn over homeschooling vs. traditional school, and a host of other decisions on a daily basis for these babies! Loving this post and the gorgeous images.Erinhttp://www.rufflesandtrains.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4143002494369975295.post-56292492818952687222014-03-10T16:17:42.891-06:002014-03-10T16:17:42.891-06:00Love this. Talk about pouring...Love, love, love this, Gillian. Talk about pouring your heart onto paper (or screen). I've been guilty of feeling as if I should act and write and be a certain way, that if I don't portray myself a certain way then people will judge me and that those judgements would hurt because they would be only partially true or far from the actual truth. I think it's so hard to be a mother in our time-period sometimes, I mean... our lives are flooded with advice and comparisons of other mother's and advice and the way things 'should' be. When really...no one has a one-size-fits-all answer for motherhood, or life. We're all struggling to find balance, and to find ourselves, and to find what is right for each of us and our families. What we all need is just a little more support and understanding and truth in knowing that no matter what we're doing, it's okay, because it's the best we can do.JennOveyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06122193099387765604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4143002494369975295.post-48240229490777363962014-03-10T10:02:16.514-06:002014-03-10T10:02:16.514-06:00oh, gillian. i am actually teared up having just r...oh, gillian. i am actually teared up having just read this. it is so beautiful, pulling hard at my heart strings. i *am*surprised that asher started kindergarten! i had no idea -- and like you said, there is just so much that we do not know, cannot know. my goodness you are wonderful & this post is a stunning reminder of why i've fallen so in love with you, your words, your photographs, & this blog.

xoDena Joanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04538742090147751677noreply@blogger.com
